The Eddie Cochran Story
In 1960 Eddie Cochran lost his life in a car accident in Chippenham after a successful tour, he was travelling with his girlfriend Sharon Sheely and a very good friend Gene Vincent. Eddie Cochran lost his life, Gene Vincent and Sharon Sheely Survived.
In the show there is a story to be told, with the Goldstar Band. Everyone on stage plays an instrument, and the music is second to none with harmonic backing vocals. Paul Docherty on Drums, Kevin Hartnett on Keyboard, Adrian McKenna on Lead guitar, Steve Halliday and Marc Robinson both on acoustic Guitar, the show has fabulous audio visuals on screen, and to add to the story Adrian McKenna gives you a hint of Eddie Cochran’s life with narration throughout the show.
In the show you will hear early Eddie Cochran from when he joined Hank Cochran to make the Cochran Brothers, through to all the well-known songs Summer Time Blues & C’Mon Everybody.
To describe Eddie Cochran’s music, we could be here all day as he had a bewildering array of styles, Rock n Roll, Doo-Wop, Country, Rockabilly, plenty of ballads, a genre to suit everyone!
To present Eddies life touring you have to realize all the big names on the Rock n Roll Circuit toured together whether in the U.S.A or Great Britain and very big friendships were formed, friends such as Gene Vincent, of Buddy Holly, Marty Wild, Billy Fury the list is endless, so to present a show about Eddie we have to include his friend’s songs too!
Eddie Cochran was an established Singer Songwriter when he lost his life, but yet again he went to soon aged just twenty-one.
Through the passing of time Eddie Cochran went on to inspire a number of artists, an influencer without even getting to know this, such as The Beatles, The Who, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Marc Bolan, Tim Rice, The Clash & even the Punk Scene where Something else was a hit for The Sex Pistols.
Even though this is not a tribute show, it is a tribute and celebration of the very talent of Eddie Cochran
